Brazilian pharmaceutical, fine-chemical and biotechnology complex founded in 1972 in Itapira, São Paulo, wholly nationally owned and employing around 6,200 people. It manufactures some 350 medicines in more than 500 presentations, alongside its own active ingredients and biotechnology products, with two fine-chemical plants, three pharmaceutical plants and two biotechnology units. It claims Latin American leadership in anaesthetics and narcotic analgesics, and exports to more than thirty countries.
