Biotest GmbH & Co. KGaA entwickelt, produziert und vertreibt Plasmaproteine und biotherapeutische Arzneimittel aus menschlichem Plasma und ist die Muttergesellschaft der Biotest-Gruppe. Das Unternehmen ist in der Landsteinerstr. 5, Dreieich, unter HRB 58851 beim Amtsgericht Offenbach am Main eingetragen und wurde 1946 in Frankfurt am Main als Biotest Serum-Institut gegründet. Die Website veröffentlicht dreizehn vermarktete Produkte in drei Bereichen — Hämatologie, klinische Immunologie und Intensivmedizin — mit Immunglobulinen einschließlich hyperimmuner und IgM-angereicherter Präparate, den Gerinnungsfaktoren VIII und IX, Prothrombinkomplex, Fibrinogen und Albumin; die Pipeline ergänzt Trimodulin. Dreieich bei Frankfurt ist der einzige genannte Produktionsstandort und zugleich der Hauptsitz: nach eigenen Angaben verarbeitet das Unternehmen gemeinsam mit Lohnherstellungspartnern bis zu 1,5 Millionen Liter Plasma pro Jahr. Eigene Spendezentren betreibt es über Plasma Service Europe in Deutschland, Cara Plasma in Tschechien und Plazmaszolgálat in Ungarn, insgesamt vierzig Zentren.
