Biotest GmbH & Co. KGaA develops, manufactures and sells plasma proteins and biotherapeutic medicines derived from human plasma, and is the parent company of the Biotest group. It is registered at Landsteinerstr. 5, Dreieich, under HRB 58851 at the Offenbach am Main court, and was founded in 1946 in Frankfurt as Biotest Serum-Institut. Its website publishes thirteen marketed products across three areas — haematology, clinical immunology and intensive care — with families of immunoglobulins including hyperimmune and IgM-enriched preparations, coagulation factors VIII and IX, prothrombin complex, fibrinogen and albumin; its pipeline adds trimodulin. Dreieich, near Frankfurt, is the only production site it names and is also its headquarters: the company states it processes up to 1.5 million litres of plasma a year together with contract manufacturing partners. It runs its own donation centres through Plasma Service Europe in Germany, Cara Plasma in the Czech Republic and Plazmaszolgálat in Hungary, forty centres in all.
